Capital University is seeking a full-time term instructor in Spanish (four classes per semester plus potential course-by-contract/independent study courses) for the Language department. The course load would include both Elementary Spanish courses and upper level undergraduate courses each semester, to begin in the August of 2023.
Course Details: this fall, the courses to be taught include Spanish 110 (Elementary Spanish) (TBD 1-hour MWF), Spanish 311 (Communication and Culture II) (11-11:50 MWF and 1-1:50 MWF), and Spanish 350 (Introduction to Hispanic Literature) (2-2:50 MWF). All courses will, in addition to regular class hours, have a one-hour lab-based assignment that is to be given to students and evaluated on a weekly basis. Approved syllabi are available for consultation.
Additional duties include: maintaining regular office hours for a minimum of three hours per week, assisting with department activities and administration as well as engagement with the local chapter of the Phi Sigma Iota language honors society, and participation in regular departmental, college, and university meetings and events.
Qualifications: Master's degree (Ph.D. preferred) in a related field and previous teaching experience is required. Must be fluent in Spanish.
