Capital University's Communication, Art, and Theatre Department invites applications for one full-time, tenure-track, Assistant Professor of Art Therapy position with a start date of August 2023.

PhD in relevant field is preferred; will also consider an ABD. Additionally, a successful candidate will have an ATR-BC from the Art Therapy Credentials Board by appointment date. Successful university level teaching experience is required and curricular development experience is preferred. Teaching load is 4/4.

We seek candidates who have an Art Therapy training background, including responsibilities related to clinical coordination. The successful candidate will possess the ability to teach a range of undergraduate Art Therapy courses in the candidate's area of expertise, such as the following courses: Introduction to Art Therapy; Imagery and Metaphor; Assessment in Art Therapy; Art Therapy Techniques and Methods; Clinical Applications in Art Therapy; and Visual Art (a basic studio art class for non-majors). We are also looking for a faculty member who will help us develop and implement a Master's level Art Therapy program. In addition to teaching, the position requires a faculty member who can manage program resources, supervise undergraduate projects, and serve on department and university committees. Those considered for tenure track must have an active research agenda and/or engage in creative activity and be active members of the American Art Therapy Association as well as other relevant professional organizations. Candidates should also have a commitment to excellence in scholarship and teaching in liberal arts education.
