Capital University is currently seeking an Assistant Manager for the Bexley Bed & Breakfast. The position will work 30 hours a week and be a benefits eligible employee. Responsibilities of the Assistant Manager include overseeing the day-to-day operations and activities of the inn.


Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Breakfast: plans for, shops for, set-up, prepare, serve guests, cleanup of the dining room and kitchen areas.
  • Reservations: make advance reservations, facilitate walk-in reservations, describe guest room details and amenities.
  • Guest Services: facilitate guest arrivals and departures, amenity services, concierge services.
  • Housekeeping: maintain overall standards for cleanliness of home, next day preparation and readiness of dining room and kitchen, guest rooms, supervise housekeeping with duties for day, monitor performance, and perform daily room inspections.
  • Laundry: assist Manager with laundry as needed.
  • Establish a positive rapport with guests, acting as a daily host/hostess from the time of arrival to the time of departure.
  • Will receive daily assignments from and reports directly to the Manager for the daily operation of the business. Assistant Manager shall follow all Standard Operating Practices (SOP's) of the B&B.
  • Other job responsibilities may be assigned based on daily and weekly operational needs, as directed by the Manager.

Qualifications:

  • Bed & Breakfast and/or hotel experience is not required, but is a plus.
  • Provide quality service for guests and maintain positive guest relations.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Desire to meet/exceed high standards.
  • Excellent professional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Organization, superior attention to detail, flexibility, creativity, excellent phone etiquette, and strong ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to work flexible hours.
