Capital University invites applications for an Administrative Assistant position to provide administrative support to the faculty and staff within Humanities departments and Director of Signature Learning. Duties include financial and business operations management of academic units, procurement and vendor coordination, data and record management, financial and academic reporting requirements, training and oversight of student workers, communication with faculty, staff, parents and the general public about Capital's programs.


  • Provides administrative assistance to the academic programs, faculty and staff within Humanities department and the Director of Signature Learning.
  • Maintains sensitive and confidential information including student, faculty and staff personnel information, financial, academic, and business operations documentation.
  • Researches information and gathers data through the student information system and other university databases and assists students in accessing information.
  • Assists faculty with committee work, payment requisitions, purchasing and travel arrangements.
  • Assists with activities for events related to academic programs, guest lectures, and recruitment.
  • Assists the Provost's Office and other academic units with processing data collected from assessment of student learning and accreditation.
  • Helps distribute, collect, process and archive documents used in faculty annual reports, course evaluation, and travel requests.
  • Interfaces with other student services and campus operation units to coordinate work in other academic units, Information Technology, Facilities, Admissions, Advancement, Business and Finance.


  • A minimum of two years of office experience or training.
  • Excellent facility in using Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Must have excellent professional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Organizational skills, superior attention to detail, flexibility, creativity, and strong ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information and maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to work closely and professionally with others as part of a team.
  • Student Information System (SIS) experience such as Ellucian Colleague is helpful.
