Capital University's Office of the Registrar invites applications for two full-time Student Information Specialist positions.

Under the supervision of the Associate Registrar, the position is responsible for the execution of student service at the front counter. This includes advising students on registrar, academic, federal policy and procedures, evaluating extenuating circumstances, determining appropriateness of policy override, answering questions from walk-in traffic, answering the main phone line and directing calls to appropriate destination and maintain the Registrar's general email account. Processes name and address changes, as well as major/minor/advisor changes, FERPA block status, leave of absence/withdrawals, enrollment verifications. Provides official and unofficial transcripts to current students and alumni, faculty and administration. Contacts students by phone for additional information regarding their requests. Serves as a liaison between the Registrar's Office and other university administrators, staff and faculty for the transcript production process.


Responsibilities:


  • Processes all postal mail and in person requests for academic transcripts via Colleague and Parchment.
  • Advises students on FERPA block consequences and manages student FERPA block status.
  • Advises students and faculty on add/drop and registration policy and deadlines.
  • Registers new and readmitted students.
  • Provides assistance and instructions on myCap registration.
  • Provides official schedules to students when needed.

Qualifications:

  • General knowledge and skills at a level normally acquired through the completion of High School education or equivalency, some college is preferred.
  • At least two years of office experience in an office setting servicing the public with professional and courteous qualities.
  • Ellucian Colleague experience preferred.
  • Excellent facility in using Microsoft Office suite, including Word and Excel.
  • Ability to use related office equipment, including PC monitor, keyboard and printer, telephone, copier, fax, calculator, and microfilm machine.
  • Excellent professional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Organization, superior attention to detail, flexibility, creativity, and strong ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to work without supervision and demonstrate considerable initiative.
